DPP 100 - Design Practices and Processes
Project Overview
Swiss Graphic Design: Process and Influence
This project explores the foundations of Swiss Graphic Design, focusing on the key principles of cleanliness, readability, and objectivity. Through historical research and creative experimentation, I examined how pioneers such as Josef Müller-Brockmann, Max Bill, and Armin Hofmann used mathematical grids, asymmetry, sans-serif fonts, and photography to shape a timeless design aesthetic.
Inspired by these principles, I created a vibrant “Chill Out” event poster, applying bold colours, strong visual hierarchy, and Helvetica typography to communicate key information clearly. The process encouraged reflection on design decisions and led to improvements in layout, composition, and brand integration.
This project deepened my understanding of how thoughtful structure and simplicity can result in powerful visual communication.
